Designed by French architect Jean Nouvel, ‘One Central Park’ in Sydney comprises two towers of 16 and 33 storeys, above a five-level retail and recreation podium. In a world-first, Australia’s leading industrial designer for architects,
TILT Industrial Design, created a massive heliostat installation on the eastern tower that ‘incorporates an innovative system of fixed and motorized mirrored panels designed to capture sunlight and redirect it into the retail atrium and onto the landscaped terraces’.
Working from technical drawings, Dominion House identified and managed a group of quality contract manufacturers in China to produce to specification and budget. Machined aluminium extrusions, custom steel hinges and imported mirrors from Spain were assembled offshore and delivered on schedule.
As the proud owners themselves note: ‘A hovering cantilever crowns the pinnacle of
One Central Park … Here there are a beguiling assembly of motorised mirrors that capture sunlight, and direct the rays down onto Central Park’s gardens’.
